Big Bear’s popular snow tubing hills are offering the same gravity-powered thrill this summer, minus the snow.
Summer Tubing at Big Bear Snow Play is now open, turning the popular winter recreation area into a seasonal attraction that gives kids and adults a fast-paced tubing experience without a snowflake in sight.
Using synthetic slides treated with a special wax, summer tubing allows for smooth, water-free rides even in warm weather.
“It’s official, families now have access to mountain tubing all year round,” said Scott Voigt, director of operations at Big Bear Snow Play.
Three tubing lanes stretch 300 feet down the hill with side bumpers to keep tubes on course. A “Magic Carpet Lift” moving walkway carries guests and their tubes back to the top, maximizing downhill time and eliminating the need to hike uphill.
Summer tubing isn’t the only warm weather activity at Big Bear Snow Play.
The facility also features a go-kart track with vehicles that reach speeds of up to 30 mph and a large suspended ropes course that span twos levels and more than 6,000 square feet.
Big Bear Snow Play is located on Big Bear Boulevard, across from the Convention Center. For additional information, click here.
