Orange County man convicted of raping 13-year-old girl, filming the attack

A jury has convicted an Orange County man of befriending a 13-year-old girl, giving her alcohol and drugs, and then sexually assaulting her and documenting the disturbing acts.

Jonathan Gonzalez-Reyes, 38, of Anaheim, was found guilty of one count of production of child pornography, two counts of distribution of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography, the United States Department of Justice announced Wednesday.

According to evidence presented during a three-day trial, in June 2021, Gonzalez-Reyes and his co-defendant, 32-year-old Nanci Jasmin Castillo, provided the minor girl with alcohol and anti-anxiety medication, and then sexually assaulted her as she drifted in and out of consciousness.

Castillo and Gonzalez-Reyes both took photos and videos of the attack, and shared them with each other, the DOJ said.

A search warrant was eventually issued for the two defendants’ online cloud storage accounts, which led to the discovery of the disturbing photos and videos.

Both were arrested in June 2024, and have been in federal custody since then.

In February, Castillo pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography and is expected to be sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison. Gonzalez-Reyes faces the same potential time behind bars.

Both defendants are scheduled to appear in court to learn the full length of their sentences on July 28.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Anaheim Police Department.
