Popular ski resort opening SoCal’s newest downhill mountain bike park

Mountain High Resorts is opening a new downhill mountain bike park June 14, marking a major expansion of the popular Southern California ski destination into summer recreation.

The new bike park, located at Mountain High’s West Resort in Wrightwood, includes three professionally designed trails for riders of all skill levels.

Resort officials say a total of eight trails are planned for the park’s first phase, with roughly eight miles of terrain to be completed. One of the three currently available trails is considered easier, another more difficult, and one is rated most difficult, they said.

In addition to the trails, Mountain High is debuting a Skills Park where riders can practice on wooden features like small jumps, drops and banked turns before taking on the main runs. The resort is open for biking Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Oct. 12.

Future expansion is already in the works with the second phase, planned for summer 2026, to add five trails and six more miles of mostly advanced terrain. The third phase is scheduled for spring 2027 and will include five additional miles of expert-level runs.

Lift tickets begin at $42 for adults and $29 for children ages 5 to 12. Season passes are also available, which come with discounts on lift tickets, rentals and food, as well as free access to the resort’s disc golf course.
