Authorities are investigating a shooting that took place at a house party near the campus of the University of Southern California overnight.
Officers responded to a home along Budlong Avenue shortly before 2 a.m., according to preliminary information.
At 2:38 a.m., the USC Department of Public Safety put out an advisory warning community members that there was police activity north of Jefferson Boulevard in the area of 29th Street between Budlong and Walton Avenue, located just west of the University Park Campus. Those living in the area were told to stay away from the scene.
Reports from the scene indicate there were more than 100 people at the party when gunfire erupted. At least one person was injured; it is believed that this victim self-transported to California Medical Center in downtown Los Angeles.
There was no immediate information on their identity or condition. Additionally, there was no description of a possible suspect.

Video footage and reports from news stringer service KeyNews indicate that many attendees became agitated when police arrived and that there were people trying to wash away blood. These reports were not confirmed by law enforcement right away.
At least two people were detained; however, it is unclear whether they were formally arrested.
Police cleared the scene around 4 a.m., according to the USC Department of Public Safety.
No further details on the shooting were immediately available.
