It’s easy to understand why somebody would call 911 in this situation, but next time hopefully they’ll take a closer look.
In a post to Instagram on Thursday, the Palm Springs Police Department described a report received that would be troubling if true.
According to the department, a person called in claiming that they saw a dead elephant in someone’s yard.

Animal control quickly responded to the home, and found the elephant — which indeed wasn’t alive, because it was a statue that was toppled by wind.
“No tranquilizers were needed, no stampede protocols activated,” Palm Springs PD said. “Just another breezy day in Palm Springs reminding us to secure your statues, especially the life-sized ones.”
