Southern California braces for 3-day stretch of above average temps

A warming trend for Southern California is set to peak, bringing above-average temperatures to the region’s inland areas Wednesday through Friday.

“We’re going to get a very hot forecast with temperatures climbing into the 90s, if not today, we’re going to get there on your Thursday and your Friday. So, get ready for that,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said.

High-pressure building over the region is responsible for the warmer temps, especially inland where Palm Springs expects a high of 100 degrees Wednesday.

Coastal areas will see much more moderate afternoon highs, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Daytime highs away from the coast are expected to be 5 to 10 degrees above average.

There is good news however, as an onshore flow should bring temperatures closer to normal for the upcoming weekend and into early next week.

“At least you’ll feel the difference, but it will still be warm,” Henry said.

Those heading out to Coachella in Indio this weekend should expect highs of 101 degrees on Friday, 96 degrees on Saturday and 93 degrees on Sunday.
