Southern California man uploaded hundreds of images of child pornography: police

Police in Redlands have arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of possessing and uploading hundreds of images of child pornography.

On Tuesday, the Redlands Police Department arrested Joshua Valentin Sands-Nava and booked him into jail where he was released after posting bail.

Sands-Nava became the subject of an investigation earlier this year after a cybertip identified him as the person responsible for uploading media of child sex abuse to the Kik instant messaging app under several different accounts.

The uploads were eventually traced to an apartment on the 800 block of Brookside Avenue in Redlands, and detectives obtained a search warrant at the home while Sands-Nava was out of town.

On Oct. 2, detectives searched his apartment and recovered multiple computers and devices, as well as illegal drugs.

Family members informed Sands-Nava about the search and he agreed to speak with detectives Tuesday which led to his arrest.

The investigation remains ongoing and is part of an operation by the regional Internet Crimes Against Children task force, which includes law enforcement agencies from across Southern California.

Anyone with information about this case or other suspicious activity is encouraged to contact the Redlands Police Department’s dispatch center at 909-798-7681, ext. 1. Tips can also be provided online.

According to jail records, a court date has not been set.
