Authorities are investigating after suspected human remains were found near the shore in Long Beach Friday morning.
The discovery was made around 9:30 a.m. near the beach adjacent to the 2100 block of East Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach Police Department officials confirmed to KTLA.
Video from Sky 5 showed a pair of orange traffic cones placed in the sand immediately in front of a lifeguard tower with the scene cordoned off with red tape.

Details are sparse, but homicide detectives and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office were called to the scene.
At this time, police have not said if the remains are suspicious or if foul play is suspected.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the exact cause of death at a later date.
