Teen found with loaded .357 magnum during curfew stop in Southern California

A loaded .357 magnum was found on a 16-year-old who was detained for violating a curfew ordinance over the weekend in Santa Barbara County, according to authorities.

The incident occurred just after midnight on Saturday when deputies contacted a group of five minors and one adult at the beach access point near the 6500 block of Del Playa Drive in Isla Vista, the sheriff’s office said.

During the investigation, deputies found multiple fixed-blade knives inside a backpack after one of the teens consented to a search.

“Deputies then conducted a probable cause search of the juvenile and located a loaded .357 magnum revolver in his pants pocket,” the sheriff’s office said.

The gun was later confirmed to have been stolen from Arizona.

The unidentified teen was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall, according to the sheriff’s office. The rest of the minors were cited for violating curfew and released to their parents.
