A relatively cool afternoon Thursday could end in thunderstorms across parts of Southern California thanks to Tropical Cyclone Priscilla.
“Priscilla may send showers and thunderstorms into Los Angeles County today into early Friday, along with elevated humidity,” the National Weather Service (NWS), said in its Thursday forecast discussion.
Rainfall totals, if any, are expected to be generally light at under a quarter of an inch, with just a remote risk of flash flooding or debris flows in the burn scar areas, according to the NWS.
“This afternoon in particular, we’ll see some areas of isolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly to our mountains and deserts. But downtown L.A. is also looking at that chance,” KTLA’s Kirk Hawkins said Thursday morning.
The KTLA Futurecast showed moisture arriving over the area around 4:30 p.m. Thursday and then returning again on Friday.
Clear skies with mild temperatures are expected for the weekend.
Another chance of rain arrives with much cooler temperatures early next week as a storm system drops into the region.
