A Valencia man has been accused of practicing medicine without a license and using an elderly victim’s identity to open a line of credit.
Nitun “Nate” Dayalghai Ahir, 43, was arraigned last Friday on charges including unlicensed practice of medicine, fraudulent use of medical titles, theft from an elder or dependent adult by a caretaker, and identity theft, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office said.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Prosecutors allege Ahir unlawfully practiced medicine at Regen Spine and Nerve in Ventura, falsely claiming to be a graduate of the Avalon University School of Medicine with specialties in neurology, neuropathy, chiropractic medicine and gut health.
Authorities say he had no license or authorization to practice any form of medicine in California.
The charges also include allegations that Ahir took advantage of a position of trust and that his crimes involved planning, sophistication, and an attempt to take financial advantage of a vulnerable victim.
He is accused of using an elder or dependent adult’s personal information to open a line of credit without consent.
Ahir remains out on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court again on May 1.
