Southern California is set for a big weekend cooldown with a chance of light showers, but the below-average temperatures won’t last long.
The National Weather Service (NWS) calls for a strong onshore flow to bring the cooling trend, according to its Friday morning forecast.
Drizzle or light rain arrives for Saturday and Saturday night, but any rain totals are not expected to be significant.
“Maybe a tenth of an inch or less, and a tenth of an inch might even be stretching it,” KTLA meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said.

By Monday, forecasters say high pressure will return a bring a steady warming trend through the week.
“You’re going to feel it. This is a rapid warmup,” Henry said. “Really extreme heat with mid-90s for the Inland Empire.”
By midweek, typical summer season temperatures will have taken over with highs about 10 degrees above normal.
