Woman clinging to teddy bear rescued from drainage hole in Los Angeles

A woman clinging to a teddy bear needed to be rescued after getting trapped 8 feet down a drainage hole in the Harbor Gateway neighborhood of Los Angeles Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews were notified of the incident on the 1300 block of West 190th Street shortly before 3 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department stated in a news alert.

Firefighters and an Urban Search and Rescue team arrived at the scene to find the approximately 40-year-old woman at the bottom of the hole.

A rescue team member used a ladder to climb down and place the woman, who was holding onto a teddy bear, into a harness.

She was then pulled out and taken by ambulance to a local hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The Fire Department initially reported that the woman fell into the hole, but the circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear.
