Woman rescued from side of steep quarry, immediately handcuffed

Los Angeles firefighters on Tuesday worked to rescue a woman who was trapped more than 150 feet down a steep slope in a rock quarry near Pacoima. When she was finally brought up to safety, she was immediately detained by law enforcement.

The emergency call to report that a woman was stuck down in the quarry located on the 12500 block of West Bradford Street was made around 11 a.m.

Details from the Los Angeles Fire Department were sparse, but officials said they were working in unified command with the Los Angeles Police Department.

The woman was believed to be around 40 years old, and her condition was not immediately clear. Aerial footage from Sky5 appeared to show the woman alert and moving—and possibly vaping.
