Amalia Holguin is known for being the youngest protege from Kobe Bryant’s Mambas youth girls basketball team. She’s known for her loyalty to Sage Hill, and leading the school to the state finals and a No. 1 ranking in Orange County.

On Tuesday, the senior guard added a few records to her profile.

Holguin scored 61 points, including an Orange County single-game record 14 3-pointers, in a 101-26 victory against visiting Laguna Beach on the Lightning’s Senior Night.

The Texas signee also reached 2,000 career points, all of which have been at Sage Hill.

Holguin broke the Orange County record for most 3-pointers in a game by one. Buena Park’s Isabelle Avalos sank 13 3-pointers in a 72-40 victory against Fullerton in 2020.

The Orange County record for most points in a game is 69 by Magnolia’s Teresa Martinez in a 97-2 win against Century in January 2024.

Holguin scored most of her points in the first three quarters.

Sage Hill senior Alyssa Cuff added 19 points for Sage Hill (22-4), which recently beat nationally-ranked Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas 88-58 to move to No. 1 in the county.

Sage Hill has won 17 consecutive games.

Last season, Holguin led the Lightning to a runner-up finish to Carondelet at the CIF State Division I final.

Sophomore Fiona McCormick scored 17 points for Laguna Beach (14-12, 0-6).

In the first round of the Pacific Coast League, Sage Hill defeated Laguna Beach 92-28.

The Breakers are new additions to the five-team league, which features four teams ranked in the top-15 in Orange County.
