Celebrating a couple of Hometown Heroes
Congrats to the 2025 Hometown Heroes, Kathy and Art Cervantes of K&A Downtown Café, who were recently honored in the Halloween Parade.
Kathy and Art Cervantes and their family have proudly served delicious food and drinks from their downtown restaurant inside Good Food Hall on Center Street Promenade for years. They have participated in many community-focused events, including organizing the annual holiday community brunch and toy drives during the holidays.
Congratulations to Kathy and Art and thank you for all you do. Hometown Heroes are awarded every Halloween season and it was so great to see them in the parade this year.
Anaheim artist hosting release party
Anaheim’s own Robert Holton will present a release party of his art on Nov. 21.
The 4 to 6 p.m. event at the gallery inside One Day Signs, 1566 W. Embassy St., will showcase drizzle art pieces, many of local landmarks. Robert’s wife, Marita, will be sharing and selling her headpieces and accessories as well.

The Orange County Science Fair hosts an annual science and engineering fair for local school children.
Registration is now open for its 71st annual fair coming up in 2026. This is a great activity for all children and youth groups.

Get ready to celebrate the holiday
The city’s Nutcracker Christmas Holiday Village and Tree Lighting is coming up soon.
On Dec. 7, from noon to 7 p.m., there will be holiday fun in Downtown Anaheim and on the City Hall steps.
There will be food, shopping, children’s entertainment, snow to play in and more. Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, too, from 3 to 5 p.m., just bring your camera.
The community tree lighting will be at 6 p.m. It is all day fun.
Don’t miss the Anaheim Ballet’s Nutcracker
This is the 39th season of the Anaheim Ballet’s Nutcracker, staged and choreographed by Artistic Director Sarma Lapenieks Rosenberg.
The ballet will be presented at The Grove of Anaheim, 2200 E. Katella Ave., at 7 p.m. on Nov. 28 and 29 and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 29.
You can also see the ballet at Don’s Celebrity Theatre at Riverside Resort, 1650 S. Cosino Drive, in Laughlin, Nevada, at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11, 12 and 13 and at 3 p.m. on Dec. 13 and 14.

Anaheim Police Department offers PACE program
The Anaheim Police Department is currently seeking participants and is now accepting applications for its upcoming Public Awareness Through Citizen Education, or P.A.C.E., class.
Students meet on Tuesday nights for a total of 14 weeks. Classes normally begin at 6 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. and meet at the Anaheim Police Department main headquarters.
This is a serious time commitment of 14 weeks.

Sunkist Branch has fun plans
On Nov. 21, from 4 to 5 p.m., children ages 13 and younger are invited to the Sunkist Branch Library for a craft hour.
Children will be able to create glittery acorns, perfect for Thanksgiving decorating. They can also write notes of thanks.

Bowerman Landfill in Irvine, the Capistrano Greenery at the Prima Deschecha Landfill in San Juan Capistrano and the Valencia Greenery at Olinda Alpha Landfill in Brea.
