Students create Business Battlefield for other students
When local high school students Dillan Gandhi, a junior, Veydaant Varshney, a senior, and college student Nundini Varshney founded Business Battlefield, they did so with the intention of providing a platform for young entrepreneurs to share their vision.
The students did just that, launching the inaugural Business Battlefield competition open to middle and high school students throughout Orange County which was held recently at the Virginia Deland Theater.
Nine finalists were selected from more than 75 applications representing 30 schools to pitch their entrepreneurial concepts, projects and social initiatives before an esteemed panel of judges representing various prestigious institutions as USC Techstars, UCLA and UC Berkeley, as well as industry leaders JP Morgan Chase, Deloitte & Touche, investment management firms and research organizations.
Judges evaluated each finalist’s pitch based on innovation, vision, market potential and feasibility and were impressed with the exceptionally high quality and creativity displayed in their presentations. The 2025 Business Battlefield winners included: Serena Yu from Diamond Bar High School in first place; Soham Parikh from Orange School of Computer Science Middle School in second place; and Anna Maria Derkach from Tesoro High School in third place. The Golden Buzzer Prize went to Seth Chang from Valencia High School for his ingenious and innovative idea.
Awards consisted of cash prizes, internships, mentorships, certificates and other tokens of appreciation.
In addition to making Business Battlefield an annual event, the founders plan to create ongoing workshops, mentorship programs and networking events that connect students with local businesses and community members. For more information, to apply for next year’s competition, become an event sponsor or judge email Simi Gandhi at simigandhi1@gmail.com.
