Is there a hero in your life you would like to honor this Veterans Day? Sponsoring an American flag at the Veterans Day Flags of Honor display at Eucalyptus Park is a perfect way to recognize and honor your hero.
This special event, presented by the Anaheim Hills Rotary Club, will feature more than 200 flags prominently displayed throughout Veterans Day weekend, from Nov. 7 to 11, allowing visitors to walk through the field, read and appreciate the posted dedications on each flag.
On Nov. 8, members of the Rotary Club will host a special remembrance ceremony for its Flags of Honor event at 10 a.m. at the park and the community is invited to attend this patriotic tribute in honor of Veterans Day. It will commence with a color guard and the singing of the national anthem.
This year’s keynote speaker is 94-year-old Korean War veteran Norio Uyematsu, who will share his compelling story of how as a young boy his family was forced into an internment camp for three years. He went on to enlist in the US Army at 17, after which he spent many years volunteering, speaking and being part of service organizations. In 2024, Uyematsu was one of the 125 Orange County Register’s Most Influential.
Flags of Honor is a signature event that extends an opportunity for community members to dedicate a flag to a veteran, past or present, or to any other hero in their life. Flag dedications are available for $50 for the first flag and $35 for each additional flag, and include an attached personalized placard. For additional information or to sponsor a flag, visit anaheimhillsrotary.org/calendar/flags-of-honor. For additional questions, email ahrc@anaheimhillsrotary.org.
