Anaheim Hills briefs: The Chance taps Scrooge musical for holiday fun

The Chance Theater celebrates the culmination of its 2025 season with the premiere presentation of “Scrooge! The Musical” starting Friday.

The production will run through Dec. 21. It is based on the beloved Albert Finney film and is a touching and festive adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novella “A Christmas Carol,” bringing the magic of Christmas through memorable music, laughter and redemption.

The newest of Chance Theater’s holiday literature series, “Scrooge, the Musical,” is directed by Chance Resident Artist James Michael McHale with musical direction by Chance Resident Artist Lex Leigh.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays; 8 p.m. on Fridays; 3 and 8 p.m. on Saturdays; and at 3 p.m. on Sundays on the Cripe Stage at Chance Theater’s Bette Aitken theater arts Center.

Help make the holidays bright for Marines and families

Anaheim-based Patriots 4 Pendleton is sponsoring a drive to collect new, unwrapped toys for children infants to 12 years old and $25 gift cards for teenagers and single Marines, unable to go home for Christmas this year.

The nonprofit organization is asking the community to partner with it again this year as it continues to support the brave men, women and families stationed at Camp Pendleton. In addition to supporting the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Patriots 4 Pendleton plans to include seven units stationed at Camp Pendleton in its giving this year.

Share a holiday table

A holiday luncheon for older residents is planned from noon until 2 p.m. on Dec. 8 at the East Anaheim Community Center.

The City of Anaheim’s Older Adult Program offers a perfect time to gather with friends and neighbors to enjoy a nutritious lunch and celebrate the holiday season.

There is no charge to attend the luncheon. Anyone who would like to come, should RSVP by Dec. 5.

Women’s Club to gather for holiday celebration

Members of the Anaheim Hills Women’s Club will host “A Winter Holiday” luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 17 at the Anaheim Hills Golf Course. All women are invited.

In addition to a choice of three luncheon entrées, guests have the opportunity to come celebrate the holiday season and enjoy special entertainment.

Another award for the Anaheim Public Library

Congratulations to the Anaheim Public Library for recently winning a California Library Association PRExcellence Award in the $10 million-$30 million Print Category for its “Zombee’s, Chills, Thrills and Donut Fills,” Winter Reading Fest.

APL’s Comms Team created the winning designs that received multiple accolades such as “Very cute! Good branding. An eye-catching, lively, and intriguing design to the poster.” The team was lauded for its spooky winter theme as well as its collaboration with local businesses.

California Library Association PRExcellence Awards are intended to honor the highest quality efforts of California Libraries that demonstrate excellence in promoting and communicating their messages to their customers.

Women’s Connection to have a holiday fashion show

The Anaheim, Orange and Villa Park Women’s Connection is inviting all women to a Christmas celebration on Dec. 8 at the Black Gold Golf Club.

This festive event includes a Pretty Fancy Fashion Show, entertainment from talented singer Julie Fullerton and guest speaker Magdalea (Maggie) Raskopf who will speak on “Two Floods.”

Luncheon and program begin at 11:30 a.m., and end at 1:30 p.m.

Cost to attend is $38 per person and reservations should be made by contacting Barbi Zipperian on her landline at 714-280-9062. Guests are encouraged to dress in their favorite festive outfit and join the fun and friendship in celebrating the holiday season.
