Disneyland kicks off Halloween with fireworks, ride overlays and food

Disneyland has kicked off the Halloween season with a familiar lineup of fireworks, ride overlays, foods and seasonal decor — even if the calendar still hasn’t reached Labor Day weekend.

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure debuted the Halloween Time seasonal event over the weekend after rolling out the Oogie Boogie Bash after-hours event earlier in the week. Both events run through Oct. 31.

Disneyland’s “Halloween Screams” fireworks show and Mickey & Friends Halloween Cavalcade started on Aug. 22.

Over at DCA, “Mickey’s Trick and Treat” is playing in the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land and “Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia” runs several times a day in Paradise Gardens during the Halloween season.

All the Halloween attraction overlays you’ve known from seasons past are back — including Haunted Mansion Holiday, Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters.

The Frightfully Fun parade runs on select nights during DCA’s separate-admission Oogie Boogie Bash.

Halloween Time has forced Disneyland to press pause on some — but not all — of its ongoing 70th anniversary entertainment that kicked off in May.

The Paint the Night parade and “Tapestry of Happiness” projection show at Disneyland and the new “World of Color Happiness” on DCA’s Paradise Bay continue through the Halloween season.
