Uncle Fluffy, known for its Japanese-style cheesecakes, plans on opening its second Orange County spot later this year in Costa Mesa.
“Coastal Orange County has been very welcoming to Uncle Fluffy and we’re excited to open at Triangle Square later this year,” said Rafik Hanna, owner of the California franchises, in a written release. “The city of Costa Mesa is known for its great dining options and our viral desserts and drinks will be the next go-to spot.”
Japanese-style cheesecakes are super springy and airy, especially when compared to denser New York-style or custard-like Basque cheesecakes. The secret to these crustless delights is the inclusion of whipped egg whites folded into the batter, often baked in a water bath, which gives the pies (yes, cheesecake is technically a pie) their airy, “cotton candy”-like texture.

Cheesecakes from Uncle Fluffy come in regular, large and extra-large sizes, with gluten-free options available. Toppings include hot milk, chocolate, caramel, strawberry and Nutella.
Uncle Fluffy also sells hand tarts (cheese, chocolate, coconut, espresso, strawberry and more), mochi and macarons, as well as matcha, coffee drinks and smoothies.
Its first Orange County space was established in Huntington Beach; the second location will open on the street level of Triangle Square facing Newport Boulevard between 19th Street and Broadway.
While no official opening date has been set, they anticipate opening late 2025.
