A gang-related shooting in Santa Ana left a 13-year-old boy who was in middle school dead and three other teenagers wounded Monday night, Sept. 8, police said.
Officers responded around 8:20 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 400 block of South Susan Street, a residential area, Santa Ana police said. They found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso; he was declared dead at the scene.
Three others — high school students ages 14, 15 and 16 — were also struck by gunfire and taken to local hospitals. All are expected to survive, the department said.
All of the victims, as well as the suspected shooters, are believed to be gang affiliated, Officer Natalie Garcia said.
Homicide detectives were continuing to investigate.
Police asked that anyone with information to call detectives at 714-245-8390 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
