Girls basketball playoffs: Sage Hill, Orange Lutheran, Troy win first-round games

Amalia Holguin scored 30 points to help Sage Hill’s girls basketball team extend its winning streak to 20 consecutive games with a 74-47 victory against visiting Redondo in the CIF-SS Open Division playoffs Thursday.

Kamdyn Klamberg added17 points for fourth-seeded Sage Hill (25-4), which rolled in first game in Pool D.

Redondo continues pool play Saturday at fifth-seeded Mater Dei at 6 p.m. before the Monarchs play at Sage Hill on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.

In another Open Division game:

Etiwanda 79, Fairmont Prep 49: Freshman center Aaliyah Mack scored 24 points with eight rebounds as the visiting Huskies (16-13) fell to the three-time defending state champion Eagles. Mathis Dritz (ankle) didn’t play for Fairmont Prep.

In Division 1:

Orange Lutheran 56, West 35: Junior forward Jocelyn Thompson had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead the host Lancers (19-8), who play at Marlborough in the second round.

Troy 69, Los Osos 57: Aoki Perry scored 26 points and Mei-Ling Perry added 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Warriors, who play host to Brentwood on Saturday.
