A man wearing a yellow motorcycle helmet was found dead Friday morning in the Orange Crush, the interchange where the 22, 5 and 57 freeways meet in Santa Ana, resulting in closures that snarled traffic in the area.
The motorcyclist was discovered at 7:05 a.m. face down on top of the center divider of the westbound 22 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.
The motorcyclist’s age was not determined.
A SigAlert was issued at 7:31 a.m. shutting down the HOV lane and lane 1 of the westbound Garden Grove Freeway.
A search for the motorcycle ended with the CHP shutting down the transition from the eastbound 22 Freeway to the northbound 57 Freeway about 7:50 a.m.
