Orange County boys soccer Top 10, Jan. 7

The first Orange County boys soccer rankings of the 2025-26 season.

ORANGE COUNTY BOYS SOCCER TOP 10

(Records through Jan. 5)

1. JSerra (6-3): The Lions were last year’s CIF Southern Section Open Division and CIF Southern California Regional Division I champions. They lost some fine players to graduation but a strong corps of young players make JSerra a team to beat — again — in the CIF-SS.

2. Mater Dei (7-0): The Monarchs are seen as the top challenger to JSerra’s attempt to repeat as Trinity League and CIF-SS Open Division champions. They are off to a strong start that includes a nonleague victory over Godinez and a Trinity League win over Orange Lutheran.

3. Orange Lutheran (5-1-1): The Lancers’ only loss has been to Mater Dei, 2-1, in the Trinity League opener last week. They have victories over high-quality teams San Clemente and Santa Ana.

4. Servite (6-3): The Friars have wins over Etiwanda and Segerstrom, and lost to always-tough Valencia 3-2.

5. San Clemente (3-3-1): The Tritons last week advanced to the championship game of the SoCal Classic tournament. They lost to San Francisco’s St. Ignatius 3-2.

6. El Toro (12-1-4): The Chargers won the Hawk Invitational tournament last week, and they tied last season’s CIF-SS Open Division finalist, Loyola.

7. Edison (10-1-1): The Chargers advanced to the championship game of the Hawk Invitational. They lost to El Toro by penalty kicks in a rain-saturated final.

8. Canyon (8-1-2): The Comanches have wins over Anaheim and Santa Margarita, and they tied Edison.

9. Valencia (5-1): The Tigers started the season 5-0, including wins over Anaheim and Servite, before losing to Canyon.

10. Sunny Hills (12-0-2): The Lancers are off to a hot start. They have a big challenge Wednesday at Canyon in a Crestview League game.
