Orange County girls basketball Top 25: Streaking Sage Hill remains in lead

The Orange County girls basketball rankings as of Tuesday, Jan. 27. The team records are through Monday, Jan. 26.

Notable this week: Sage Hill is No. 1 for the second consecutive week as it enters a Pacific Coast League game against Laguna Beach on Tuesday riding a 16-game winning streak. … Mater Dei rises one spot to No. 2 after completing an impressive 3-0 week to push its winning streak to 11 games. … Santa Margarita ascends one position to No. 3 after defeating Orange Lutheran to finish the first round of the Trinity League with a 2-1 record.

ORANGE COUNTY GIRLS BASKETBALL TOP 25

1. Sage Hill (21-4): The Lightning play Laguna Beach and Rosary on Tuesday and Wednesday as they seek to claim a fourth consecutive Pacific Coast League title.

2. Mater Dei (20-4): Freshman Legend Tyler averaged 11.3 points off the bench last week in wins against Santa Margarita, JSerra and Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas.

3. Santa Margarita (17-7): Point guard Madi Lam will face JSerra and Mater Dei this week and represent the Eagles in the O.C. girls flag football game on Saturday.

4. JSerra (17-5): Vivian Grenald scored 30 points in a 58-48 loss against Mater Dei last week.

5. Fairmont Prep (12-11): Adyra Rajan had 19 points and eight rebounds as the Huskies beat Westview — ranked sixth in San Diego — 68-53 on Saturday.

6. Esperanza (16-9): Charlotte Muller scored 23 points, including five 3-pointers, in a 66-45 victory against El Modena.

7. Villa Park (19-6): Bailey Roczey had season-high 19 points, seven assists and six rebounds in a 69-61 loss against Brentwood on Saturday.

8. Beckman (19-5): Sophomore Kaley Tam made four 3-pointers off the bench as the Patriots posted a second double-digits victory against San Clemente in the South Coast League.

9. Orange Lutheran (16-6): The Lancers rallied from a 14-point deficit to upset JSerra last week and lost a 12-point lead in the fourth against Santa Margarita.
