ORANGE COUNTY GIRLS SOCCER TOP 10

(Records through Sunday, Jan. 11)

1. Santa Margarita, 12-0-0: Felicity Nguyen and Lauren Lim helped power the Eagles’ offense last week as they outscored Beckman and La Costa Canyon by a combined 13-1. Santa Margarita opens the Trinity League at JSerra on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Previous ranking: 1

2. Mater Dei 10-1-3: The Monarchs start the Trinity League on Thursday at Orange Lutheran. Last season, Mater Dei edged the Lancers in the CIF-SS Division 1 semifinals en route to the title. Previous ranking: 2

3. Huntington Beach 9-0-4: Senior midfielders Bailey Oliver and Sienna McAthy scored goals in a 2-0 victory against Marina last week in the Sunset League. Previous ranking: 3

4. JSerra 5-1-1: Sophomore Kaylee Hanna had two goals in a 4-1 win against San Diego’s San Marcos last week. Previous ranking: 5

5. Orange Lutheran 3-1-3: The Lancers closed their nonleague schedule with a 3-0 win against Millikan. Previous ranking: 4

6. Aliso Niguel 7-4-3: The Wolverines play Trabuco Hills and Capistrano Valley this week in the South Coast League after opening with a 1-1 draw against El Toro. Previous ranking: 6

7. Capistrano Valley 6-2-2: The Cougars play host to San Clemente in a South Coast League showdown at Saddleback College’s back fields Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. Previous ranking: 8

8. San Clemente 10-1-3: The Tritons began South Coast League play with a 2-1 win against Trabuco Hills and a 1-1 draw against El Toro. Previous ranking: 9

9. Edison 5-6-2. Sadie Olivares and Audrey Scrimgeour netted goals as the Chargers upset Newport Harbor 2-1 in their Sunset League opener. Previous ranking: not ranked

10. Newport Harbor 8-5-1: The Sailors edged Los Alamitos 4-3 in their Sunset League opener before falling to Edison. Previous ranking: 7

Also considered: Canyon (6-3-2); Los Alamitos (3-8-3).
