Phil Hughes resigned as football coach at Canyon, the school announced today.
Canyon reported that Hughes resigned to create more family time.
He coached Canyon for four seasons. Canyon was 17-25 during his tenure. Canyon was 9-3 in the 2013 season to tie a school single-season record for football victories.
Canyon principal Brent McKee, who also has been Canyon football coach, said in a school statement: “We thank Coach Hughes for his four years of dedication and hard work. We fully support his decision toprioritize his family and wish him the absolute best in his future endeavors.”
