The postponement of Aliso Niguel’s home football game against El Toro on Friday is connected to a “personnel matter” involving an employee of the Capistrano Unified School District, a district spokesperson said Wednesday.

Aliso Niguel was scheduled to play host to El Toro in its home opener but the nonleague game has been rescheduled for Sept. 27, the Wolverines’ football team posted on social media.

“The football game was rescheduled,” said Ryan Burris, chief communications and public engagement officer for Capistrano Unified. “I’m not able to provide any additional information as to the reason for the change as it is related (to) a personnel matter.”

Capistrano Unified, Burris added, doesn’t comment on personnel matters.

Aliso Niguel (1-0) opened the season with a 38-3 victory against Beckman at Tustin High on Aug. 21.

The win propelled the Wolverines on Monday into the Orange County rankings at No. 25.

El Toro (0-1) lost its opener to visiting Tesoro 24-14 on Aug. 22.

The rescheduled game falls during the week that Aliso Niguel and El Toro had planned to take byes before beginning league.

Aliso Niguel opens the Foxtrot League on Oct. 3 against rival Dana Hills (1-0). El Toro begins the Iota League against Canyon (0-1) on the same day.
