Ramps & Amps brings skate, BMX, music to Dana Point

The city of Dana Point will host its annual Ramps & Amps on Saturday, Aug. 16, in Doheny Village.

The free event will feature skateboarding and BMX demos, public street courses, live music sets, food trucks, and drinks on the street for the 21 and older crowd.

A 30-foot-wide, 13-foot-tall half pipe will be set up for one-hour demos held three times throughout the day, emceed by pro skaters Christian Hosoi and Dave Duncan.

Those who want to shred the course should bring their own boards, helmets and pads. A “grom course” for beginners will be open from 10 a.m. to noon for kids 12 and under.

The public street course with quarter pipes, rails, picnic bench, manual pads, kicker ramps, and more will be open from noon to 7 p.m.

Where: Doheny Village, between Domingo and Sepulveda avenues. Parking is available on Las Vegas Street and Doheny Park Road. Take the Dana Point Trolley to stop S3, ride your e-bike and park in the corrals provided by Doheny Bike, or ride your skateboard.
