Report: Tesla crashes into Newport Beach home, missing children

A Tesla crashed through the walls of a Newport Beach home on Friday evening, coming to rest inside the downstairs bedroom where two children had been moments earlier,  KTLA 5 reported on Saturday.

“The car came to rest inside a downstairs bedroom where two children had been moments earlier,” said officials in a statement to KTLA. “Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported, and this incident could have been much worse.”

On social media, some people reacted with disbelief over the car barreling into the house.

The Newport Beach Fire Department told KTLA that crews responded around 11:23 p.m. to reports of a vehicle collision near Mariners Drive and Antigue Way in the Dover Shores neighborhood.

A video from the scene shows a white Tesla in the side of the home with its hazard lights flashing and heavy front-end damage, according to the report.

The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was transported to a hospital, authorities told KTLA.  The Newport Beach Police Department is investigating the crash.
