Bulky sandwiches with light ingredients, international flavors and customer appreciation propelled several California businesses into Yelp’s Top 100 Sandwich Shops of 2025.
The crowd-sourced review website released the list on Tuesday, July 29. Yelp came up with the list using data from the sandwich category on its website, including ratings of reviews and the total volume of web traffic. All restaurants had passing scores from their local health departments as of May 9.
Trends researchers noticed included the popularity of banh mi and an interest in vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Sierra Subs and Salads in Three Rivers, Tulare County, was the top California shop at No. 2 on the list, which was topped by Franky’s Deli Warehouse in Hialeah, Fla.
Two Southern California restaurants made the top 10.
Woods Deli in Huntington Park came in at No. 5. Owner Robert Valdez credits fresh ingredients, including house-made sauces, and customer service for the shop’s success. It’s at 5610 Pacific Blvd., No. 104.
Favorites include the Woody, made with Black Forest ham, turkey, pastrami, chedder and jack cheese on a French roll. The shop also serves all-day breakfast sandwiches.

At No. 10, Super Subs in Banning is the home of the Asian Sub, made with chicken, pickled cilantro, cucumber and a secret sauce. The shop is at 112 N. San Gorgonio Ave. Hours are 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
In Southern California restaurants from Burbank to Palm Springs and as far south as San Diego made the cut. Here they are in order of ranking.
