Corona del Mar’s undefeated girls tennis team and Portola are seeded first and second, respectively, ahead of reigning state champion Palos Verdes for the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs.
The section announced the playoff pairings Saturday with the Sunset League champions Sea Kings (18-0) atop an eight-team, Division 1 bracket.
Six of the eight teams in Division 1 are from Orange County.
In addition to Corona del Mar and Portola (16-2), there’s No. 4 seed Mater Dei (13-2), No. 5 JSerra (15-4), No. 7 Fountain Valley (13-4) and No. 8 Sage Hill (17-5).
Corona del Mar, seeking its first section title since 2019, plays host to Sage Hill on Friday.
Mater Dei, the inaugural state champion in ’23, plays host to JSerra in another first round match.
Woodbridge (Division 2) and Canyon (Division 3) also earned top seeds in their respective divisions.
The finals are Friday, Nov. 14 at the University of Redlands and The Claremont Club.
