A woman was found stabbed to death Saturday morning, Feb. 14, in San Juan Capistrano, and her estranged spouse was set to be booked on suspicion of murder in her death, authorities said.
Deputies were called shortly after 6:30 a.m. to the 26000 block of Laurelwood Lane for a reported domestic incident, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
When deputies arrived, they found a woman in her 60s dead in the garage with apparent stab wounds, sheriff’s officials said. A man in his 60s was also found at the scene with non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
It was not immediately clear whether the man’s injuries were self-inflicted or defensive, sheriff’s spokeswoman Carrie Braun said. The motive for the killing was not immediately known.
Authorities said the victim and suspect were estranged spouses who both lived at the residence. The man was to be booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of homicide after he was released from the hospital, Braun said.
Neither the victim’s nor the suspect’s identity was immediately available.
