Man arrested in connection with burglary and assault in Desert Hot Springs

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a residential burglary and assault that occurred early Thursday morning in the unincorporated area of Desert Hot Springs, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded around 2:00 a.m. on July 24 to a report of a break-in at a home in the 69500 block of Dillon Road. According to authorities, the victim reported that her ex-boyfriend entered the residence and assaulted both her and her current boyfriend while they were asleep.

By the time deputies arrived, the suspect had fled the scene. One of the victims suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition.

The case was taken over by the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station Robbery and Burglary Suppression Team, which identified the suspect as Isaac Murrell, a Desert Hot Springs resident. With assistance from the Gang Task Force-Region 1 and the Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau, Murrell was located and arrested without incident in the 17000 block of Palm Drive.

Murrell was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of burglary and assault causing great bodily injury.
