Barricaded domestic violence suspect prompts tactical response in Hawaiian Gardens

A man believed to be armed and involved in a domestic violence incident barricaded himself inside a residence in Hawaiian Gardens Friday morning, prompting a tactical response by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau, deputies from the Lakewood Station were initially dispatched to the 12000 block of 226th Street at approximately 10:52 a.m. on July 25. Due to the nature of the situation, the department’s Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) was called in to assist.

SEB personnel assumed tactical command at the scene while members of the Crisis Negotiation Team attempted to make contact with the suspect in an effort to bring the incident to a peaceful resolution.

The surrounding area was evacuated for the safety of nearby residents, authorities said. As of Friday afternoon, there was no confirmation of injuries or arrests, and law enforcement officials indicated that the situation was still ongoing and developing.
