Boy arrested in fatal stabbing of Mission Viejo man

A boy suspected of fatally stabbing a man in the victim’s Mission Viejo apartment on Wednesday, April 9, has been arrested on suspicion of murder, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said on Thursday, April 10.

Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to the 27000 block of Camden after a woman found her brother bleeding on the couch. They discovered Cristopher Bahenabaylon, 21, suffering from a stab wound to the chest; authorities said he died at the scene.

Deputies detained a person of interest— later identified as the boy, who lived in the same apartment complex as the victim.

He was booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall.
