A 24-year-old man was sentenced on Friday, May 9 to more than 17 years in prison for shooting at a couple of teenagers outside a liquor store in Tustin two years ago.
Daniel Martinez pleaded guilty on Feb. 4 to two counts of attempted murder with sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a gun and attempted premeditated murder.
Orange County Superior Court Judge Lewis Clapp sentenced Martinez to 17 years and four months in prison. Martinez was given credit for 814 days behind bars.
Police were dispatched at 12:23 a.m. March 29, 2023 to McFadden and Myrtle avenues regarding the shooting, prosecutors said in court papers.
One teenage boy was wounded in his back and left arm while another teenage boy escaped injury, prosecutors said. The boys told police they were walking to the home of the girlfriend of one of the victims when Martinez attacked them just outside of King’s Liquor.
