Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver in a hit-and-run collision in downtown L.A. that seriously injured a woman in her 20s.
The crash happened at 2:24 a.m. on April 6, when a blue hatchback traveling northbound on Los Angeles Street hit a pedestrian who was crossing near Olympic Boulevard.
The driver fled the scene without stopping or providing assistance, continuing northbound on Los Angeles Street toward Olympic, police officials said.
Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital, where she was treated for major injuries. As of Thursday, no arrests have been made and police have not released further details about the vehicle or the woman’s current condition.

LAPD has released surveillance video of the collision, which shows the moment the vehicle struck the woman, launching the woman into the air and then speeding away. The video shows that the pedestrian crossed as traffic had a green light; the suspect vehicle does not appear to slow before hitting her.
A reward of up to $25,000 is available through a city program for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction or civil resolution of the driver.
Authorities are reminding drivers involved in any collision to stop, contact emergency services, and remain at the scene as required by law. Pedestrians are also urged to use caution when crossing streets, obey signals and use marked crosswalks whenever possible.
