LASD asking for public’s help solving murder of man found in vacant lot near Metro station

A homicide investigation is underway and authorities are seeking the public’s help to solve the murder of a San Pedro man reported missing last year.

Damon Eugene Bluthenthal, 50, was reported missing on Christmas Eve 2024, and his body was located days later at a vacant lot in Compton near the Artesia station along the LA Metro A Line.

Little information has been released about the case, including Blethenthal’s manner of death. But on Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department asked for public help for new leads that could break the case.
