The body of a Southern California woman was found by her husband on her property eight days after she was reported missing, authorities said Monday.
Deputies responded to the residence on the 74000 block of Aztec Avenue in Twentynine Palms after receiving a missing persons call for 51-year-old Hiroko Nagao on Oct. 23, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced in a news release.
Investigators learned that the woman’s husband had apparently left the home around noon and was unable to locate Nagao when he returned later in the day. The missing woman’s personal items were still at the residence, the sheriff’s department noted.
Just over a week later, on Oct. 31, Nagao’s husband reported finding her body on the property.
A homicide team was sent to the residence to assume the investigation and is awaiting the outcome of an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, the sheriff’s department said.
No further details about the investigation were shared in Monday’s news release.
