Southern California wrestling coach arrested for allegedly having sex with teen students

A Southern California wrestling coach was arrested for allegedly having sexual relationships with underage students.

Anthony Oscar Alcala, 28, of Huntington Beach, was arrested Wednesday for the alleged crimes, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department announced.

In February 2025, investigators received a report that two teenage victims were allegedly groomed by Alcala before having sexual relations with him.

The victims said the incidents occurred when Alcala worked as a wrestling coach at El Modena High School in Orange and Foothill High School in Santa Ana.

While investigating, authorities discovered Alcala had also previously coached at a private wrestling club in Placentia called Premier Wrestling (formerly known as Somar Wrestling).

He was later arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail on multiple felony charges including sexual intercourse with a minor.
