Authorities are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a felony hit-and-run collision that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries late Monday night.
The crash happened around 11:55 p.m. near the intersection of Fountain Avenue and Havenhurst Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station say the vehicle was heading westbound on Fountain when it failed to yield to a pedestrian who was legally crossing the street in a marked crosswalk. The driver hit the pedestrian and continued without stopping, officials said.
The unidentified pedestrian was transported to a hospital in critical condition for treatment of injuries that were described as life-threatening.
Investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect vehicle, a white sedan, which they believe sustained damage to the front or left-front bumper area.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials say speed appears to be a factor in the collision, although investigators cannot yet determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
