Girls soccer playoff: Newport Harbor, Segerstrom, Ocean View reach finals

Freshman Cassie Jacoby scored on a header with about 18 minutes left in the second half to lift Newport Harbor’s girls soccer team past top-seeded Westlake 1-0 in the CIF-SS Division 1 semifinals Saturday night at Newport Harbor High.

Jacoby scored off an assist by Sadie Taketa.

Aliyah Chappell went the distance in goal for the Sailors (17-5-4), who advanced to the section finals for the first time.

Newport Harbor plays Roosevelt in the final.

In Division 6:

Ocean View 1, Palmdale Aerospace Academy 0: Charlotte Johnson scored on a free kick from 25 yards in the second half and goalkeeper Sydnie Enriquez sealed the shutout as the Seahawks ( 13-6-3) reached their first section final.

Ocean View will play Orange Coast League rival Segerstrom for the championship.

Segerstrom 3, Grace 1: Dominique Becerra, Tania Solis and Jewel Orellana each scored goals to lead the host Jaguars (14-2-6) to their first final.

Segerstrom went 2-0 against Ocean View en route to the Orange Coast League championship.
