Former teacher’s aide in Anaheim gets 25-year sentence for sexually assaulting 3 boys

SANTA ANA — A 30-year-old former teacher’s aide for an Anaheim charter school pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting three boys, including one in the backseat of his car after church, according to court records obtained Monday.

Justin Dean Evans pleaded guilty last Tuesday to three felony counts of forcible lewd acts on a child. He had 1,906 days credit for time already served behind bars, and Orange County Superior Court Judge Kevin Haskins ordered the defendant to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Evans worked at Goals Academy at 4012 W. Carl Karcher Way when he was accused of molesting the three boys in 2018 and 2019, police said at his preliminary hearing.

Evans was accused of molesting the boys by grabbing their crotches while playing soccer with them during recess, police said. One boy said he was in fifth grade at the time, and another boy said he was molested three times when he was also 10 years old, police testified.

Another boy said when he was in the fifth grade Evans accompanied his family to church in Fullerton and after the service he had the boy come with him to his car to retrieve a gift, police said. The boy said he was sexually assaulted in the backseat of the defendant’s car, and he also recalled another time when he said Evans gave him coffee that appeared to be drugged, police testified.
